WHY NORTHERN REGION?
Hosting the NHCCE 2023 in the Northern Region is our way to show our appreciation and support to our more than 13,000 registered employers and over 730,000 employees in the region. This is especially important as employers in the North are very diverse, coming from sectors that include Services, Manufacturing, Construction, Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and Mining & Quarrying, among others.
This diversity has been spurred by rapid economic developments in the region in the last few decades. For instance, since the 1970s, Penang underwent a series of economic transformations which eventually led to the establishment of the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone. The Free Industrial Zone has become an impetus for attracting foreign investors and expanding the state’s manufacturing sector. Most recently, Penang has made more significant strides in diversifying its economy by expanding into more subsectors within Services while expanding its Tourism and Education industries.
For these reasons, now is the perfect time to bring the NHCCE 2023 to Penang and industry players in the North. As organisations grow, they will need new knowledge, insights, and capabilities. This will require a fresh and holistic approach to their human capital. The NHCCE 2023 – Northern Region will enable participants to learn from the subject matter experts, network with industry leaders and eventually build a dynamic workforce for today and the future.
OUR REGIONAL PARTNER
To make this event a huge success, we are collaborating with Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC) as our NHCCE 2023 Northern Region Strategic Partner. Here are some interesting information about them!
The PSDC (Penang Skills Development Centre) was established in 1989 and is Malaysia’s first tripartite, industry-led skills training and education centre. Since its inception, PSDC has grown phenomenally to become the country’s premier learning institution, dedicated to meeting the immediate human resource needs of the business community and supporting and strengthening business requirements. Having attained national and international recognition has made PSDC a truly successful example of shared learning and a model institution for human resource development to be emulated within and beyond Malaysia.
For the past 33 years, the Centre has trained over 250,000 participants through more than 13,000 courses, pioneered local industry development initiatives, assisted in developing national policies on human capital development, and contributed directly to the Malaysian workforce transformation initiatives.
Moving forward, the PSDC will expand its role and work towards becoming the Centre of Excellence for skills and talent development in Penang and Malaysia. This will enable it to meet the current and future demands of the industry.
